These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and P9NW, a sole proprietorship owned by James D. Davis, doing business as Storycosm Systems ("Storycosm Systems," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing storycosmsystems.com, any of its subdomains, or purchasing any of our products, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
These Terms cover:
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at jdavis@storycosmsystems.com if you suspect unauthorized access. One account per person; accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and no one under 13 may use them. Users between 13 and 17 may use the free tier with parent or guardian consent, but may not purchase paid memberships or Framework Packages. By making any purchase, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
Memberships carry a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first charge. Fiction Framework Packages and Starter Kits carry a 14-day money-back guarantee from purchase. Full conditions, exclusions, and the request process are set out in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms and controls in the event of any conflict.
Everything you create in the App — your stories, characters, worlds, scenes, notes, and other original material ("User Content") — belongs to you. We claim no ownership of your User Content. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, display, and process it in order to operate the Services for you.
You are responsible for your User Content. Do not upload material that infringes someone else's rights, is illegal, or violates Section 10.
The Services — including the App, the Structure Library, the interactive maps, canon worlds and lore, site design, and all software — are owned by P9NW and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your membership grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them while your membership is active. You may not copy, redistribute, scrape, resell, or create derivative products from platform content.
When you purchase a Fiction Framework Package or Starter Kit, you receive a lifetime license to use its materials — including full commercial rights to publish and sell novels and stories you write using the framework's world, characters, and plot architectures. You may not resell, redistribute, or share the framework documents themselves, in whole or in part, or use them to create a competing product.
Free samplers, templates, and guides are for your personal use. You may use what you create with them commercially, but you may not redistribute the files themselves.
Framework Packages and Starter Kits are digital products delivered by download link immediately after purchase. Prices are in U.S. dollars. You are responsible for any applicable taxes. If a download fails, contact us and we will restore access at no charge.
You agree not to misuse the Services. Prohibited conduct includes attempting to breach security, scraping or bulk-downloading content, uploading malware, infringing intellectual property, harassing others, uploading unlawful images or content, circumventing membership gating, or reselling access. Our full Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into these Terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate it.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, with notice where practicable. On termination, your license to platform content ends; licenses to Framework Packages you purchased survive, and your User Content remains yours.
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any creative or commercial outcome will result from using our products.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, P9NW's total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless P9NW from claims arising out of your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email to account holders and by a notice on the site at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
